During this time, priorities like caring for our families and our health have taken center stage. At our practice, we also realize just how much our patients mean to us. We want each one of you to know that your health and well-being remain our top concern. In this article you’ll find a refresher on important dental hygiene practices as well as the services we offer that you may not know about.
Maintaining your oral health is just as important as keeping up with your overall health. We’ve put together a quick guide on important dental hygiene habits that will help keep your smile healthy and beautiful.
- Do you know how long you should brush your teeth for? Two minutes, twice a day is the amount of time needed to remove plaque.
- Floss at least once a day. It helps clean in between your teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach, and it also helps keep your gums healthy.
- Eat a healthy diet. Yes, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in artificial sugars can help you maintain your dental health. The bacteria on your teeth thrive on sugary snacks and drinks, resulting in the formation of plaque which can then lead to tooth decay.
Even our patients who take excellent care of their teeth sometimes still run into issues such as cavities, gum disease or other common dental conditions. As you may know, we have a wide variety of treatments for these problems to help you maintain your oral health. What you might not know, however, is that we offer services that go above and beyond general dentistry, such as teeth whitening, dental implants, snoring prevention and the treatment of temporomandibular disorder (TMD), (an issue that affects the jaw joint). In case you only see us for routine dental cleanings, it’s good for you to know we take care of these issues if something comes up.
From our family to yours, we wish you good health! And remember, please don’t hesitate to email or call us at our Canandaigua office if you have any questions.
