Oral Health Tips For Summer
After a long winter in NY, we are thrilled that summer is a few short weeks away! We love talking to our patients about their summer plans and enjoy hearing about all of the fantastic trips they have scheduled. We also know many of our patients are planning to spend the summer days and nights with their loved ones at home. No matter what your summer plans are, we want to ensure that the state of your oral health will not get in the way and negatively impact your plans. We want to share some helpful tips to ensure you enjoy your summer worry free.
Avoid Dental Emergencies
Unfortunately, we all know accidents and emergencies happen; however, there are steps you can take to lessen your chances of experiencing a dental emergency. One of the easiest ways is to ensure you visit the office regularly for a hygiene examination and cleaning. During these visits, we not only clean your teeth and remove lingering plaque, but we also inspect your mouth for problem areas and recommend treatment if needed. If a needed treatment is delayed or a routine hygiene examination is delayed, you are increasing the likelihood of an emergency. A dental emergency can ruin vacations and exciting plans.
Maintain Your Dental Routine
Summer is a time of long days spent enjoying the outdoors and the warm weather we don’t see for much of the year. It can be tempting to put off brushing and flossing your teeth after an enjoyable day. We encourage our patients to maintain their oral hygiene routines even when they may feel exhausted. Properly cleaning your teeth helps to rid the mouth of lingering bacteria that can develop into decay.
Prepare for Vacation
When traveling be sure to pack any dental supplies needed for your trip to maintain your hygiene routine. Depending on the location of your travels, it may be difficult to get the supplies you need.
If you are in need of a hygiene examination before your travels this summer or it has been longer than six months since your last visit we encourage you to contact our office located in Canandaigua, NY to schedule an appointment. We hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
